Giving at Grace & Peace
We welcome gifts of any amount, from anyone who would like to give. We ask those who join our church family to participate in giving; if you are a guest or visitor, do not feel obligated, but do join us, if you'd like, as we think and pray about how we are each called to give to support God's Kingdom work here, in St. Louis, in this city.
Grace & Peace is pleased to offer the option of giving online through a secure website with PayPal. PayPal is a popular online payment system that lets you give online without having to re-enter your information for every transaction. You can easily set up a PayPal account and start using it in a matter of minutes. Setting up recurring monthly donations is a great way to give regularly and consistently to Grace & Peace.
To set up a monthly donation:

Your gift helps us live out our vision to serve our community and the world.
David wrote in Psalm133, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Here are the words:
These words fit many contexts, and getting along with one another, is important-very, very important as we follow Jesus in love and care. Even Jesus himself prayed in John 17:21 that those who would believe in him would all be as one. But these words also can be, it seems to me, about everyone in a local expression of the Body of Christ (like Grace & Peace Fellowship) giving for the work of that body. If Jesus prayed for unity, then unity in giving here at Grace & Peace Fellowship may bring great glory to God!
Getting along in love requires sometimes giving up our own agendas, and also requires listening to our leaders and following as we trust God that they are using wisdom. The same is true with giving to the church, unreservedly, as God provides for us to do. You do not have to be “just like” anyone else in the church, either in who you are or in your giving patterns. We are each called to be a unique part of the Body, for all the parts are essential and needed. We belong one to another. I hope that we would all be unified in giving together to the Lord’s work in our midst.
When you are part of the body and you give to the offerings, you are participating fully in the unified work the Body is doing for God and for the coming of his Kingdom. God calls those who have very little to give sacrificially, and he calls those who have very much to give sacrificially. (And he calls those who have a medium amount, to also give sacrificially.) Imagine saying, “I gave to help support Vacation Bible School. I helped those happy kids hear the Gospel.” And imagine your neighbor, to whom you may have never spoken, saying: “Yes, I did, too!” And what if you looked at the person sitting behind you and said, “That worship song was so beautiful,” and each of you was quietly thinking, “I’m so glad I could help make that happen.” And think about the money that we put into the fund to help pay Thurman Williams, our second pastor before he came with his family. That was something we did together, by God’s grace and for his glory. We decided together to do it, by a vote. And our voting together meant that we could tell Thurman and Evie that we made a plan that helped us believe we could faithfully pay him for his work as they moved halfway across the USA to help Kurt shepherd us for at least the next five years or so. Now we have been able to support Thurman and his family for more than a year!
When we look at the nice Gallery space and much-improved church offices and bathrooms that we opened in 2010, we can consider that we saved up together for three years in order to pay for these nice improvements where we can enjoy God together and follow Jesus together, welcoming others as he does. These are all money-related things we can only accomplish together, and we can enjoy more and more unity as we contribute to them together.
If your funds are very tight, even if you are on Food Stamps or unemployment, you can give a cooked dish of rice or make cookies for a fellowship meal, to help our church family reach out in hospitality. The neighbors you meet there at the table might have been needing to meet a neighbor just like you. Or you can shop the grocery store sale ads, and when you get “Buy One, Get One Free,” food, give the free one that you can’t use, to the Food Pantry or the Finger Food in the Gallery Meal. Maybe you can’t give money but if you have a few skills and a lot of time on your hands, you could help at a work day or volunteer in the office. This SAVES the church money! It can be an offering to God!
Look at verse 3 again. Look at what God says happens when God’s people live together in unity. “There the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”
